Tien Len Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

Tien Len is the Vietnamese card game Tiến Lên, playable offline against computer opponents, on one device with friends, or online. This policy describes what information the app handles, where it goes, and what I can see. I am Kyle Browning, an independent developer, and Tien Len is my app.

The short version

  • Offline games, whether against the computer or pass and play with friends, never leave your device. No connection is made and nothing is stored anywhere.
  • Online play uses a lightweight account: a display name you choose and a random identifier your device generates. No email address, no password, no phone number, and no real name required.
  • I have no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. There is no third-party SDK collecting data about you.
  • Your data is never sold and never shared, except with the services that keep the game running, described below.

Offline play

Games against the computer and pass and play games run entirely on your device. The AI opponents are local code, not a server. You can play in airplane mode and nothing changes.

Online play

When you play online, my server needs enough information to run the game:

  • Your display name. Chosen by you, shown to the other players at your table and, if you play ranked games, on the public leaderboard. Pick whatever name you like; it does not need to identify you.
  • A device identifier. A random ID your device generates the first time you sign in. It is how the server knows it is you without an email or password. It is not your phone's hardware identifier and it cannot be used to identify you outside the app.
  • Game history. Lobbies you join, the hands played in each game, wins and losses, and the statistics built from them, such as your win rate and favorite combinations.
  • Ranked rating. If you play ranked matches, your rating and match history are stored, and your display name and rating appear on the public leaderboard.

The server is operated by me and runs at tienlen.browning.engineer, hosted on Railway with the database in the United States.

Passkeys

You can optionally add a passkey to sign in on other devices with Face ID. The server stores only the passkey's public key. The private key stays in your device's keychain, managed by Apple. Passkeys involve no password and reveal nothing personal to me.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, an Apple push token is stored so the server can tell you when it is your turn or when a match is found. Declining notifications only means you will not get turn alerts; everything else works the same. Tokens are discarded when they stop working or when you sign out.

Support and feedback

The Support and Feedback screen sends what you write, along with basic app and device information that helps me reproduce problems, through Grantiva, a service I also operate. Nothing is sent unless you submit feedback.

Purchases

Tien Len Premium is a one-time purchase sold through the App Store. Apple handles the transaction. I never see your payment details, and I receive only the anonymous sales reports Apple provides to every developer.

Deleting your data

You can ask me to delete your account and everything attached to it, your display name, device identifier, game history, statistics, and rating, by emailing kylebrowning@me.com from any address, with your display name included so I can find the account. Deletion is permanent.

Children

Tien Len is a card game suitable for general audiences. It collects no real names, no contact information, and no personal details from anyone, including children. Display names are free-form text chosen by the player.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, I will update this page and change the date at the top. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
